Visiting scholar

Senior academics, as well as doctoral and post-doctoral researchers can undertake a period of independent and self-directed research at the Department of Sociology of the University of Granada.

Research visits can last up to one academic year.

Visiting scholars will be given access to the bibliographical resources of the University of Granada.

All visiting scholars are expected to present their research during their visit in a seminar organized by the Department of Sociology.

Visiting scholars are welcome to use the facilities of the library of the Faculty of Political Sciences and Sociology as their working space during their stay.

Application procedure

Applications can be submitted all year round and at least one month in advance of a proposed visit.

The first step consists of establishing contact with a link-person who will be willing to support your visit.  Any academic who works at our Department can act as a link-person. The request for them to act as your link-person should be accompanied by the following documents:

  1. Motivation letter which should include a brief description of the research which you wish to undertake during your stay at the University of Granada
  2. CV

Once you have the support of a link-person, fill in the following form:

The link-person will make the formal application on your behalf, submitting your documentation to the Board of the Department of Sociology and Area of Internationalization for review. In the case of acceptance of your application, the acceptance letter will be issued.
